A good design starts with a thorough understanding of the client’s specific needs, budget, and knowledge of the existing terrain or existing building parameters. This involves either an initial site visit where practical or images and video of the property for a house design and addition or accurate measurements of an interior space for a kitchen, bath, stair, sauna, etc., design. A zoom call or face-to-face meeting, if practical, would facilitate this first step. There is no cost to you, the client, for this initial intake and subsequent proposal.

Initial sketches and a design proposal would follow. If you find the concept to be on target and you wish to proceed, a design deposit begins the formal computer generated drawings. Changes to the initial design would be included in this design cost. Floor plans, elevations, and interior and exterior perspectives would be provided either in person or digitally for your review. Structural/working drawings, if necessary, would be an additional charge.

Flexibility is the name of the game. Collaboration with you, your builder, or home/addition manufacturer are all within the realm of possibilities. For clients who are outside my immediate building area of western Massachusetts and the Blue Hill peninsula of Maine, project management or construction supervision are offered. Lastly, I may be available for hands-on consultation and construction of smaller do-it-yourself projects. I have experience with framing, Sheetrocking, taping, wallpapering, finish trimming, and tiling to help your project come in on or under budget.

Downeast Designing is Worth building.
